20TA04  Recall Campaign Information

Overview:

The 20TA04 Campaign is a recall for certain 2019-2020 model Avalon, Camry, and RAV4.. 

Some of the affected vehicles were built with an engine block that was manufactured incorrectly.

The defect can cause coolant to leak inside or outside the engine, causing engine noise, smoke, warning lights, dashboard lights, overheating , engine damage. It can also cause the engine to stall at high speeds without warning. It can also cause oil to leak and lead to an increased risk of fire. 

What Happens:

The technician will inspect the engine block casting serial number and if it is determined to be involved the dealer will replace the engine assembly or engine short block with a new one.

What to do:

Run the customer’s VIN in TIS to confirm the campaign.

There is no need to order any parts. 

Parts will be ordered by the technician if necessary after inspection. 

Protocol/Guest Experience:

Scheduling is for inspection only. Average  guest experience time is 2-3 hours. 

If further action is needed, this will be communicated by the advisor at that time. 

Parts: No.

Rental: Rentals are available if there is further action to be taken after inspection.

Rentals will be assigned by the advisor after technician inspection.
