21TC05 Recall Campaign Information

Overview:

The 20TC05  Campaign is a recall for certain 2020-2021 Highlanders. 

In the involved vehicles, the fuel gauge needle and the “distance to empty” estimated in the vehicle display accurately indicate the approximate amount of remaining fuel in the fuel tank. 

However, some drivers are continuing to drive after the low fuel light illuminates, causing them to potentially run out of fuel and be inconvenienced.

What Happens:

The technician will update the vehicle’s computer software. 

What to do:

Run the customer’s VIN in TIS to confirm the campaign.

There is no need to order any parts. 

Protocol/Guest Experience:

Due to the varying nature of a software update, it is best for the guest to drop the vehicle for the day. 

Some updates can be performed in as little as two hours, others can take most of the day to complete the update. 

Communicating this to the guest is extremely important to providing a positive experience.
