J0X Recall Campaign Information
Overview:
Due to inappropriate programming in the airbag electronic control unit (ECU), a fault may be erroneously detected during vehicle startup which would disable one or more of the sensors used to detect crashes. This could result in the side and curtain shield airbags and/or front and knee airbags not deploying as designed in a crash. As a result, there is an increased risk of injury in the event of a crash and regulatory requirements in certain markets may not be met.
What Happens:
When the vehicle comes in for service, the vehicle is inspected and, if necessary, we will perform an update to the software.
What to do:
Run the customer’s VIN in TIS to confirm the campaign.
The campaign will look like this:
There is no need to order any parts. Parts will be ordered by the technician if necessary after inspection.
Protocol/Guest Experience:
Due to the varying nature of a software update, it is best for the guest to drop the vehicle for the day.
Some updates can be performed in as little as two hours, others can take most of the day to complete the update.
Communicating this to the guest is extremely important to providing a positive experience.
Parts: No.
Rental: Rentals are available if there is further action to be taken after the software update. Rentals will be assigned by the advisor after technician inspection.
