JSD Recall Campaign Information

Overview:

The JSD Campaign is a recall for certain 2014-2017 model Corolla, Corolla iM, and Scion iM vehicles. Customers are experiencing harsh shifting and abnormal engine RPM between shifts with their CVT engines.

In effort to make the vehicle shift properly and provide the customer with a smoother driving experience, JSD is an update to the vehicle’s computer programming to prevent the transmission from unnecessary cycling.

What Happens:

When the Corolla comes in for service, the vehicle is inspected and if necessary, we will perform an update to the software.

The technician will then road test the vehicle and document the performance of the vehicle.

The technician will also inspect the transmission and if necessary, will replace components of the transmission or the entire CVT. This aspect of the next steps will be communicated to the customer through the technician and advisor.

What to do:

Run the customer’s VIN in TIS to confirm the campaign.

The campaign will look like this:

There is no need to order any parts. Parts will be ordered by the technician if necessary after inspection.

Protocol/Guest Experience:

Due to the varying nature of a software update, it is best for the guest to drop the vehicle for the day.

Some updates can be performed in as little as two hours, others can take most of the day to complete the update.

Communicating this to the guest is extremely important to providing a positive experience.

Parts: No.

Rental: Rentals are available if there is further action to be taken after the software update. Rentals will be assigned by the advisor after technician inspection.
